Bolts have a head and a shank and can be full thread or partial thread. Bolts also technically have a non-tapered end, which connects components by using a nut and washer. Many bolts are often called “screws” in the industry. Some bolts can be converted between their DIN and ISO counterparts interchangeably, but some cannot. For example, the flange bolt is sometimes interchangeable (depending on the application), but may not be interchangeable for all applications due to the differences in the head dimensions between the DIN, ISO and EN flange bolt standards.
