Screws technically have tapered ends that allow them to mate with existing thread or create their own threads as they are inserted into the application. Sometimes the term “bolt” and “screw” are used relatively interchangeably in the industry, usually with certain fasteners that are technically bolts, but generally called screws. DIN to ISO conversions with some screws can be tricky due to the many variations of some screws, but as with other fasteners, the metric standard counterparts are often interchangeable.
