Thoughts From The Deer Stand – Tripod Edition

Hey, fastener friends. Craig here taking advantage of this Thanksgiving season as a time to reflect on the past year and count my blessings.

This year, I’m going to start with this opportunity to go after this huge buck that’s been hanging around my property. But that’s just the beginning.

Also, this past year, I finally admitted that my knee was shot. By “admitted,” I mean that I listened to my wife, Kim.

Back in 2023, I got together with a group of fastener freaks to participate in a mud run up in Chicago. If you don’t know about mud runs, well they basically combine a 5k race and an obstacle course.

And it would’ve been a lot of fun…if I hadn’t torn my ACL between the third and fourth obstacles.

Luckily, I had a great surgeon who’s working on getting me back in shape. Since the surgery, I now seem to be getting around just fine. But boy I’m glad that’s behind me!

What else am I thankful for?

We’ve had an amazing year at Eurolink. I swear, business gets better every year.

I have a fabulous staff to thank for that. To tell you the truth, they seem to work even better when I’m not around.

I spent some time sitting on my butt recovering from surgery, and they’re out there killing it.

Maybe I should take more vacations? Maybe I should spend more time right here in the woods?

A place where I feel truly at peace. I mean, it’s peaceful until I pull the trigger and BANG!

But nevertheless, until that moment, I just relax right here in nature’s simplicity. Nothing like it! 

I know people have their own opinions, but I’m thankful that our nation came together to elect a president with not only the electoral vote, but also the popular vote. That doesn’t always happen, and it’s a sign that democracy still works.

I can’t wait to see what President Trump does to not so much make it greater again, but to make it greater than ever. If I could get a quick sidebar with the president, though…Could we maybe talk about whether tariffs will apply to metric fasteners from Europe? Doesn’t seem like a high priority for the nation. I’m just saying, you know, I’d like to keep my prices where they are. I’m sure you’ll work it out! And with this new knee, if you want, we can hit the links to discuss, Mr. President!

Most importantly, thank you to my beautiful wife!

I can be a handful, but she puts up with me pretty well. You know what I love most about her, though?Her faith in a living God that forgives, heals, and redeems.We’re nothing without our Lord and Savior.

Everyone knows I crack jokes, but there’s nothing funny about that. It’s just the honest truth.

Well, that’s it for this edition of Craig trying to be funny for people that don’t watch him trying to be funny.

And so, this Thanksgiving season, I want to wish all of you the very best. So let’s be thankful for those sitting around our tables and playing a big part in our lives, for the benefits each of us have as Americans, and for every breath we get a chance at taking.
